SEB is Collecting 4L Outer Milk Bags

SEB ECOTeam will be collecting 4L Outer Milk Bags to be woven into mats for sleeping, weather protection, carpets in 3rd World Refugee camps.

Rather than throw these away, or set into recycling bins, consider ‘up-cycling’ them!

Each classroom will have a collection bin, please ensure that these outer bags are washed & dried.

Thanks!!

A Friendly Reminder Regarding … Nuts, Peanuts, Peanut Butter Substitutes and Their By-products

At SEB, we have students who could experience serious consequences if exposed to peanuts, nuts, or their by-products (e.g. peanut oil, peanut butter).  Depending on the child, the reaction could be life threatening.  Merely smelling or touching a peanut product could cause an anaphylactic seizure or reaction and resulting in a serious consequence.  For the same reason, please do not send spreads to school made with nuts, the most popular being Nutella.

We also request that you do not send peanut butter substitutes (usually made from soy) with your child(ren).  Because these products look and smell like real peanut butter, it puts our staff members in a difficult situation with determining whether or not a product could cause an anaphylactic reaction.

For the safety of these students, we ask that you do not send peanuts, nuts or their by-products to school with your child.  Moreover, from time to time, some parents are very generous in sending treats to school to be enjoyed by the students in their child’s class during a celebration or special event.  Should you do so, we ask that you take care that the finger foods are not made with peanuts, peanut oil, etc.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

School Hours & Punctuality

School Hours

School starts at 8:40 am.

It is important that the students arrive on time for school. Teachers supervise the playground starting at 8:25 am every morning. It is imperative that students DO NOT arrive at school earlier than this because they would be unsupervised.

Lunch hour occurs from 11:25 am. – 12:25 pm.
Recess from 9:50 – 10:05 am and 1:45 – 2 pm every day.
Dismissal is at 3:10 p.m.

All students will be expected to go outside for their recesses so that they can get some exercise and fresh air. If a student needs to remain inside the school at recess, a doctor’s note stating the reason must be submitted to the school. On occasion, teachers may choose to have a student stay inside to complete work.

Punctuality

Regular school attendance and punctuality are life-long skills we want to instill in our SEB students.  Please help us achieve our goal.

Students are expected to be on time for classes. All students entering class late must present a late slip obtained from the office. Lates are noted in the daily attendance register and on report cards by teachers.

Specific communication and the involvement of our attendance counselor will be implemented if chronic lates and absences are evident.

Chronic lates and absences greatly affect academic performance.
