Welcome Back Stars! Our SEB staff have been busy preparing to welcome our amazing students for another wonderful school year. Please review important updates below along with a link to our opening newsletter. This document is great to keep close by for important dates and protocols. We also encourage all our families to visit our calendar website and follow us on Twitter for updates.
As of today, our families should be able to view their child’s teacher within the Aspen parent portal and/or School Cash On line. Class assignments are tentative as new registrations are being processed and enrolment is changing. Please note that within the month of September classes may need to be rearranged.
First Day of School:
Students in grades 1-8 are asked to join us on the back blacktop for the first day of school, Tuesday September 6th after 8:25 a.m. and before 8:40 a.m. Each teacher will be present identifying themselves, their grade and English or French Immersion stream. Students are asked to join their teacher so that attendance can be taken outside. Students will then enter the building with their class saying good-bye to their families. If your child is on a bus, we will have staff directing them and assisting them in finding their class.
Parents of children in Junior Kindergarten should have been contacted by their child’s teacher identifying their staggered start visit times. These families will enter through the Early Years entrance at the side of the school. All Senior Kindergarten students begin on Wednesday, September 7th.
We continue to ask our families to remain strong partners assisting us in maintaining safety for all. Please continue to screen your child daily for any illnesses, keeping them home if needed. If unsure and requiring direction regarding positive cases of COVID-19, our screener will identify your next steps: https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/
Plans of Care/Student Verification Forms/Cash On Line Forms:
All families are asked to complete School Cash On Line forms prior to September 30th. Hard copies of plans of care (if your child has a medic alert) and Student Verification Forms will come home on the first day. We asked that you return these to your child’s teacher as soon as possible. Thanks.
Yearbooks from 2021:
These have arrived. Once organized we will send home a copy of the yearbook with your child. Families of grade 8 students from last year without a sibling in the school are invited to come by the office to pick up.

If students reside in the bus zone, but require partial or no busing, please complete the “Do Not Ride Form” located on their website. As the pandemic continues, these forms will assist STSWR with accurate headcounts as they plan for September and further changes to school procedures during the school year. For younger students, it is especially important to ensure students are not assigned to a bus in error and inadvertently put on a bus at the end of the day.
Please note recent messaging from transportation regarding specific delays:
ATTENTION: WCDSB families and students who qualify for transportation through Student Transportation Services of Waterloo Region (STSWR):
This is an important update regarding the start-up of transportation services this September.
Student Transportation Services of Waterloo Region (STSWR) plans and contracts for transportation for WCDSB students who qualify for these services. The software used by STSWR to support their activities is hosted on servers managed by the Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB). WRDSB was recently the victim of a cyber attack which caused disruption to their information systems including STSWR’s software.
As a result of the disruption, route planning for schools in the Region was delayed.
With thanks to the staff at STSWR, most transportation services and routes will run as expected on the first day of school – September 6, 2022. There are some exceptions as outlined below:
Delayed Start to Student Transportation
Transportation Services Starting on Monday, September 12, 2022

- All bus routes from V01 to V39
- All bus routes from W01 to W45
Transportation Services Starting on Monday, September 19, 2022
Any student/family who has changed their address in June, July, or August will have their transportation service begin on September 19th.
