Hello SEB Families:
We hope you and your families are safe at home and staying healthy as you take care of one another. Over the past couple of weeks, our teachers have been reaching out and checking in with each family. As a community, we have also been working behind the scenes to help support families who may not have access to technology as we look to begin to Learn@Home.
Our dedicated staff have been working diligently to set up distance learning for students starting today, Monday, April 6th. We have been meeting together virtually and have been busy organizing materials and resources for our students. Please note that we understand that this is not “business as usual”. We recognize and respect that many of our parents/guardians are working from home, going to work, or working on the front lines to keep us all safe. Please take time this week to determine a schedule that fits for your child(ren) and your family. Accessing the learning may take place at different times on different days and this is all good.
Our SEB staff will be following the guidelines set out by the Ministry of Education. As you know, this means 1 hour of learning each day for students in JK to Grade 6, and 2 hours each day for students in Grades 7 & 8. Our teachers are utilizing their usual platforms of D2L and Google Classroom to share tasks and information. Emails and communication by phone are also accepted means of communication. We realize the commitment that this form of learning takes from all of you at home and we are so grateful for your role as a partner together with us.
If you are a parent of a child in Grade 1 to 8 and need support to access Google Classroom, please see this video:
If at any time you feel that you need to get in touch with your child’s teacher, please reach out to them. Classroom teachers will be connecting regularly and will be available to answer questions and/or to help in any way they can. We know that this feels different – it does for us also! We want to sincerely thank you for your support at home, for your patience with the process, and for your continued dedication to our Stars community.
As a reminder of how much our SEB staff misses our students and families, please see message below. We are all in this together!
